FLORIDA FILM FESTIVAL SCREENING at Enzian Theater

Yesterday was the most wonderful day! It was emotional and exciting beyond my wildest expectations and fantasies. I am so grateful to Eric and Phyllis and to all of those who helped them, for their vision, insight, and ability to produce such a beautifully magical portrayal of the heart and soul of our family—truly a work of art! Seeing it on the big screen, in the cozy ambiance of the Enzian, with so many “old” friends, and those that were with us in spirit (I know that Lisa was there), and so very many new friends, was a dream come true. I can still feel the hugs and the love that was there; it still surrounds me and will continue to live on in my heart.

God has blessed us so greatly. I thank Him, most of all, for bring us immeasurable joy through this film. I am convinced that He is truly the executive producer and director, who orchestrated it. He brought Eric and Phyllis into our lives, and guided them, giving them the wisdom to handle each and every detail, and providing them with such wonderful, competent, and compassionate help to complete and distribute the film about Lory’s life and our family’s love.

Sunday was a very special, uplifting day for all of us, but especially so for Lory. She doesn’t complain, but I know that she frequently feels very alone, as if it’s just her fighting the corporate powers, while trying to live her life. Nothing is easy for her. She had all she could do to come up with gas money to get to Maitland because her disability check, which was due last Monday, still hadn’t arrived. (CSX was ordered years ago by the Maryland Workcomp Commission to direct deposit Lory’s checks. Lory switched to Sun Trust, the bank CSX/Crawford uses, to make it easy for them. But the mighty CSX can’t figure out how to direct deposit. Go figure.)

Sunday afternoon Lory didn’t feel alone. There was such an outpouring of love and understanding from all of those who saw the film. The Question and Answer session was fantastic. I was caught off guard by the question about a fund to help Lory. There is no actual fund, but she can definitely use funds. She has an account at Sun Trust in her name, or donations can be mailed to her at her home in Bunnell (596 CR 90 E, Bunnell, FL 32110), and will be greatly appreciated and put to good use in providing for the pigs. Nothing will be wasted or spent frivolously. She’s currently extremely stressed just keeping food in the troughs for the critters. The cost of feed has risen so dramatically, each day is a challenge. The lack of adequate transportation to get feed has made life doubly difficult. She could use a good truck, or a good mechanic and the funds needed to repair her old one.

I know that Lory was uplifted today to realize that so many people understood her devotion and determination to provide for her pigs. She has a calling—a passion. So many of us don’t. She is so blessed. I’m thankful that her life has such rich meaning. I guess I am even thankful that she puts her animals’ welfare above her own. She has the courage of her convictions. I may not always understand her, and at times I may get frustrated with her, but I am very proud of what she has done with the hand she’s been dealt! There but for the grace of God go I. She is very strong. She is God’s gift to the pigs. And they are God’s gift to her.

Your encouragement will mean everything to her. Your thoughts, ideas, and prayers will do wonders. Visits, skills, anything that you can offer to let her know she’s not alone—that you are thinking of her—that you care.

I am convinced that this film will help not just Lory, but others with similar situations. Special thanks to Scott J. Uricchio and Clint M. Lavender, of Morgan and Morgan Law Firm, and Diane Zeidwig, LMFT, a psychotherapist in private practice, for giving so generously of their time and knowledge.

Thanks, once again, to all of you for being a part of our family.

Let the journey continue……Love, Charlene

I have been Lory’s caseworker/nurse for the past two years and have been amazed by the intelligence, dignity, and fortitude that she possesses since the moment I first met her. Upon further delving into her case, I found her mother to be a woman of great courage, strength and devotion beyond measure. I have fallen in love with the Yazurlo family through my time with Lory, watching their struggles, and their love and dedication to one another.
“When Pigs Fly” was so deeply moving as I watched it for the first time. I felt as though it spoke everything I had always felt in my heart about this wondrous woman and her mother and family, and their hearts, their souls, and their spirits. “When Pigs Fly” is a great reminder to those of us who forget to wake up and be grateful every day for what we have and for what we have been given. It brings me to tears to know the beauty of such a woman as Lory Yazurlo, who actually teaches us in this movie to accept what you’ve been dealt with, run with it, and make it work with all you’ve got!
Now that’s a lesson for us all!

I was in the audience at the Enzion-loved the flick-Lory’s courage–amazing! What was with CSX rep/non-rep? She said she’d been “on the case” for 7 years, tried to defend CSX, but wasn’t there representing CSX–just decided to show up on her own? Give me–and the the rest of the audience a break!

I had the pleasure of seeing When Pigs Fly at the Florida Film
Festival screening at The Enzian last Sunday. What an impressive
documentary. It raised so many questions about the workcomp and
insurance industries in our country. I had no idea the problems a
person faced, dealing with workcomp. It was pretty scary and throught-
    provoking.

I was astonished at the accomplishments of Lory Yazurlo. What
a courageous young woman. During the Q&A session, there was a question
about donating funds to help her provide for her pigs, and it occurred
to me later: if each person in attendance, or each person who knows of
her efforts and cares, gave a small donation—even $1—what a difference
we could make! We would really be taking part in the “journey”!
